Using Java Applets on iModel



Currently, the iModel website contains buttons and links that open Java Applets for a variety of functions, including viewing stimuli and analyzing data files. When you start a session with iModel on your browser, you are likely to have to answer Yes and confirm that you trust iModel and want to run the Java appets. Be aware that these queries are likely to occur several times. Sometimes, you may need to reload a link after answering the query.

Additional information on configurations that work with Java are given below.


Browser Support. Safari and Firefox support Java applets, but Chrome no longer does.

Mac OS X. On the Mac, the following configuration many be needed to work with Java Applets:

  1. Use an up-to-date version of Java.
  2. Go to System Preferences and click on Java
  3. When the Java Control Panel opens, click on the Security tab.
  4. Click on Enable Java content in the browser
  5. Under Security level..., tick "High", but not "Very High".
  6. In the Security Tab, you will want to add to URLS in the Exception Site List

    2. http://tito.biostr.washington.edu
